Congressman Mooney’s Statement on President Biden’s Border Visit

WASHINGTON, D.C – Today, President Joe Biden is chasing President Donald Trump to the Southern Border. After years of radical Biden open border policies that have created a flood of illegal crossings, drugs, and crime.

Since President Biden took office, there have been 8.7 million illegal crossings. Which is greater than the population of 36 states.

President Biden said it was “not rational” to deport illegal immigrants back to Venezuela. Instead, the President offered them protective status and gave them work permits to remain in the United States. 22-year-old Laken Riley, a Georgia nursing student, was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who had previously been arrested in New York. Under President Trump, Laken’s murderer would have had to remain in Mexico. President Biden ended Remain in Mexico and reinstated catch-and-release.

“The Biden border crisis is impacting all of us. No community in West Virginia is safe from the scourge of deadly fentanyl pouring across our Southern Border, or the violence brought by illegal immigrants. Across America there have been stories of illegal immigrants assaulting police and committing sexual violence against minors. College student Laken Riley was murdered as a direct result of Joe Biden’s policies,” said Congressman Alex X. Mooney.

Mooney added, “President Biden can shut down the border, but instead he intentionally opened the gates and releases thousands of dangerous criminal illegal immigrants every day. The House has acted to restore President Trump’s successful border policies. The Senate must pass the Secure our Border Act to shut down the border and restore order.”
