WASHINGTON – Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) issued the following statement on H.R. 925:
“Speaker Pelosi today put forward another socialist wish list, which this time would add $2.2 trillion in taxpayer dollars to a national debt of $26.8 trillion. This was simply a recycled bill House Democrats put forward for a vote in May. In this far left spending package, illegal immigrants and abortion providers would be able receive taxpayer money and federal prisoners would be released. A significant change from the May bill is that this defunds the police by eliminating relief for our local law enforcement.
“House Democrats planned to use $436 billion in taxpayer dollars to bailout state and local governments, primarily in fiscally mismanaged blue states like California, Illinois and New York. Congress should help small businesses and hardworking Americans adversely impacted by the coronavirus outbreak instead of continuing to pass bills that placate radical leftists,” said Congressman Alex Mooney.
