Congressman Alex X. Mooney Announces Grants for Law Enforcement

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) announced $705,664 in Department of Justice (DOJ) grants for law enforcement in West Virginia’s Second Congressional District. These funds were awarded through the DOJ’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) COPS Hiring Program (CHP). The awards announced today are inclusive of the $51 million announced in May as part of Operation Relentless Pursuit.

“I’m glad this DOJ funding will support the hiring of law enforcement professionals to advance public safety and security in our communities. This grant program will provide additional resources for our police agencies in West Virginia’s Second Congressional District,” said Congressman Mooney.

Throughout the country, 596 law enforcement agencies were awarded this funding. This will allow an additional 2,732 additional full-time law enforcement professionals to be hired. A total of $400 million was awarded for law enforcement to advance community policing.
