Congressman Alex X. Mooney Announces Department of Transportation Grants for West Virginia

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) announced $28,864,721 in grant awards to the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) and a $7,778,442 grant award to Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority (KVRTA) in Kanawha County, West Virginia. Funds are allotted from the Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help maintain service for coronavirus recovery and response. A portion of the WVDOT Rural Area Formula funds will also be used to support Intercity Bus Operators.
 
“I’m pleased these CARES Act grants are awarded from the DOT to the West Virginia Department of Transportation and the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority with the essential aid to maintain service and operating costs during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Congressman Mooney.
