The Record Delta

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Alex X. Mooney (WV-02) announced Friday support for H.R. 266, the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act and issued the following statement:

“I am proud to continue to work with President Donald Trump to protect the jobs of hard-working Americans during this unexpected pandemic. This legislation adds urgently needed $320 billion in funds to the Paycheck Protection Program to enable small businesses to keep their employees on the payroll.

“As of today, over 7,500 small businesses in West Virginia have received grants from the Paycheck Protection Program.  Upon passage of H.R. 266, the Small Business Administration will have the needed funds to resume providing grants.

“H.R. 266 also provides a much needed additional $75 billion in aid to rural hospitals and healthcare providers who are on the front lines combating the coronavirus every day.  Furthermore, the bill includes $25 billion in taxpayer dollars for increased research and development capacity for expanded COVID-19 testing. This combined funding will give rural hospitals in West Virginia the support necessary to keep our communities healthy,” said Congressman Mooney.
