Congressman Mooney Announces More than $3M in Federal Funding for the Hardy County Public Service District
Today, Congressman Alex X. Mooney announced a $3,028,000 United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development loan and grant has been awarded to the Hardy County Public Service District (PSD) from the Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants program.
“Assuring that local businesses and governments have access to federal resources is a top priority of mine. I am happy to fight and help secure funds that are vital to economic development in West Virginia,” said Congressman Mooney.
This USDA investment will extend water service to 38 new customers along Dover Hollow Run, Fort Run, and Killdeer Lane, as well as upgrade the existing Baker Water Treatment Plant to meet Environmental Protection Agency regulations and to include Ion Exchange. The project will install nearly 22,550 linear feet of water line along with 38 meter settings and other system appurtenances.
Upgrading the water lines on Trough Road and Trout Run Cutoff will improve the overall efficiency of the plant. This project will also improve potable water service for 16 existing customers. In addition, a hydropneumatic booster pump station is proposed for the Dover Hollow and Fort Run extensions of this project. The Hardy County PSD has existing water lines in these areas to which they can connect and extend service. The extension areas are in Hardy County PSD’s jurisdiction and the District has an existing water purchase agreement with the Town of Moorefield to service proposed expansions. The loan is $2,073,000 and the grant is $955,000.
